FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. How much weight can I expect to lose?
The amount of weight loss that you can expect depends on several unique factors. For the average patient, the first 30 days of our program involves rapid and safe weight loss, but the actual weight loss experienced varies depending on several factors. At your initial consultation our staff will establish your unique profile analyzing your age, gender, weight, height, body fat percentage, body mass index, sleep schedule, occupational activity level, basal metabolic rate and more. Utilizing this information, sophisticated software, and experience, our nutritional staff is able to give each patient a clearer picture as to what they can expect, both in the short-term and long-term.
2. What kind of food will I be eating?
Your life doesn't have to fit our program because our program is customized to fit your life. Our nutrition plans are completely individualized to meet all of your physical and practical needs. You will have filling, satisfying, balanced meals with your food directly from your fridge, freezer, and pantry. We'll even obtain the menus to your favorite restaurants and provide a plan for dining out too. There are no shakes, bars, liquid meals, or meal-replacements. Instead, we take into account your dietary restrictions (vegetarian, vegan, kosher, etc), food allergies, specific food preferences and even lifestyle needs (traveling, eating out, or simply can't cook) to ensure that you have a complete nutrition plan that is sustainable both in the short-term and long-term.
3. What if I have a dietary restriction?
Since our nutrition plans are customized, we not only take into account dietary restrictions (i.e. vegetarian, vegan, kosher), but also a patient's allergies, specific food preferences and lifestyle to ensure that they have a full and complete diet plan that is sustainable both in the short-term and long-term.
4. Will I gain the weight back after the program?
Since our program is specifically designed for long-term, sustainable weight management - the simple answer is no. With real food for real people, living in the real world, we understand that most people do not eat the same way on the weekends compared to weekdays or on a holiday or vacation compared to a routine day. We understand that people eat differently at night compared to the day and even differently in the summer compared to the winter. A customized real food plan is created for each patient with a combined simplicity and structure without sacrifycing freedom and flexibililty. When we say LOSE IT, LEARN IT, LIVE IT - we mean it!
5. Do you accept insurance
We do not bill through insurance for our services. However, we can provide you with the proper documentation to submit claims to your insurance company. All health insurance companies and policies are different. Some insurance plans will cover our program in full, others will cover a portion, and some not at all. Please contact your health insurance provider directly.
6. How much does your program cost?
The cost of our program ranges depending on various factors. Due to the custom nature of our approach, we are unable to establish exact fees before we meet with each prospective patient and evaluate their unique objectives and needs. We offer a wide range of programs, packages and payment options. The total and final cost of our program will be established during your free, no-obligation consultation. You will learn (in great detail) exactly what we do and what you can expect, including all associated costs, prior to your commitment to join.
7. Is exercise required on your program?
No. While we recognize the health benefits of regular exercise, it is not a prerequisite to success on our program. If a patient does not currently exercise or has a medical condition which precludes them from doing so, this will be reflected in his or her customized plan. Likewise, if a patient does regularly exercise, we incorporate their routine into the program.
8. Do you use medication on your program?
Sometimes, yes. Sometimes, no. At Dr. Bo’s Diet, we create an individualized weight loss and weight management plan for each patient’s unique needs and goals. In some cases, medication may be used (in the short-term) as a tool in their overall nutrition plan. The decision whether or not to use medication will be discussed at your initial consultation. A determination of the best and most effective course of action will be rendered by our medical and nutritional staff, taking into account the needs, desires and medical history of the patient. Since there is no single best course of action, each patient receives their own customized plan, ensuring their success.
9. Do preexisting conditions preclude me from joining?
No. In many cases our patients have one or more preexisting medical conditions. Upon your initial consultation, our medical staff will conduct a medical examination including a complete medical history. When necessary, our doctors, physician assistants and nurse practitioners will work together with your primary care physician or specialist to monitor your health and adjust your medications. In most cases weight loss will improve overall health conditions, lessening or eliminating the need for the medications you may currently need to treat these obesity-related diseases.
